AoFAQ Level 3 Award in The First Person on Scene Intermediate (RQF)
This qualification provides theoretical and practical training in more advanced methods of life preservation, it is delivered to Ambulance first responders as part of their training and has been in operation for frontline emergency services for several years.
The syllabus consists of two mandatory units, it is recognised by the Security Industry Authority as a requirement for Close Protection officers and is seen as the standard worldwide for this role.
The course syllabus is;
The pre-hospital environment (including minimising the risk of infection) Patient assessment
Respiration and airway management
Basic life support and automated external
Opening and maintaining airways
Bag Valve Mask (BVM)
Circulation and shock
Recognition and initial care of critical haemorrhage Medical related emergencies
Heart attack, diabetes, stroke, epilepsy Trauma-related emergencies
Treatment of burns
Injuries to bones, joints tendons and ligaments Skeletal and spinal stabilisation
